The Colorado Rockies have been accuses before of switching in baseballs at times that would be, well, convenient for them to blast a homer. Tim Lincecum of the San Francisco Giants was having none of it.
For those who aren’t aware of what the Rockies do, allegedly, here’s a quick recap. The Rockies will switch in an untreated baseball that hasn’t gone through the Coors Field humidor, thus making it different from the rest of the game balls and much more likely to travel further – as in for homeruns.
When Lincecum received the ball in the sixth inning, he could tell by the feeling that it was untreated. He got the umpire’s attention and asked for a replacement. That’s the point where he said:
“F**k this juiced balls bullshit.”
Moral of the story: Don’t eff with Lincecum. He will pwn you.
